Export Performance of the Mauritian Economy

Exports remain a crucial variable in the economic growth of Mauritius. The economy is based on textiles, seafood, jewellery, agro-processing and major tradable services that include tourism, ICT and finance among others. Mauritius is classified as an outlier in Sub-Saharan Africa for its competitive export performance based on manufacturing and services.

Launching of MAGMA

To-day it is a dream come true for the Mauritian jewellery sector. A brand is born in the name of MAGMA after 3 years of  hard work by 8 “artisans bijoutiers” who have pulled together skills, dexterity, “le savoir faire mauricien”, human and financial resources, patience and perseverance. The MAGMA project was conceived in the spirit of the jewellery sector’s contribution  towards the national endeavour for branding Mauritius.

EM: Your partner in progress

Enterprise Mauritius (EM) is the apex Trade Promotion Organisation of the Republic of Mauritius which was incorporated on 22 October 2004. EM however effectively started its operations in 2005 following the merger of Mauritius Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), Export Processing Zone Development Authority (EPZDA) and SUBEX-M.

Signature of MoU between ZNCC and EM

Enterprise Mauritius signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) during the first Buyers Sellers Meeting held on October 2011, in Harare Zimbabwe. The ZNCC is an apolitical, non-profit based organisation that provides services designed to support its members in business development. This chamber is an important stakeholder in the economic affairs of Zimbabwe.

Rumfest

Enterprise Mauritius organised the first participation of Mauritian companies in RumFest, which took place in London, UK from 14-16 October 2011. RumFest is a specialised event which aims at promoting and celebrating the delights and diversity of rum and sugarcane spirits.
